Anyone have thoughts on what they've heard so far from TSOAF?
I wouldn't go so far to say that I like it, but it is definitely interesting. I am, however, interested in hearing the songs Matthew sings on. From the sound of it, it appears to be somewhat of a departure for him.
Mr. Kelly, do you care to comment on your participation with said musical group?

I've heard only samples of The Sound of Animals Fighting's upcoming release Lover, the Lord Has Left Us. I really like the concept of the collective as they seem to use a Surrealist approach to creating their art: Cadavre Exquis - where one artist will create only a small portion of the art and another will build upon that theme, (and another and another) until all who have collaborated create a singular work that is both a unique work unto itself as well as a conversation or collage of all the various creative voices involved. I definitely look forward to hearing more.

Is anyone in these parts planning on seeing The Sound of Animals Fighting this coming up weekend?

Does anyone know which songs Matthew sings for/with them on the album?

Matthew has such a distinctive voice, that I'm sure anyone familiar with the Autumns would recognize him instantly.

I picked up Lover, The Lord Has Left Us over the weekend...actually downloaded it from iTunes.
I have to say, and changing my original post somewhat, I like it quite a bit. Yes, Matthew's songs definitely stand out for me, but there are several others that are really good. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking it up.
The track "the heretic" has one of my favorite Matthew Kelly vocal melody's.

Oh those sneaky fans. Camera phone footage of 'The Heretic' live. (as posted on youtube) You can't see much, but there is a distinct little face on the left side of the screen.

I thought that, with the impending re-release of 'The Tiger and The Duke', this topic should be updated somewhat...resurrected...by saying that, a DVD of TSOAF's shows was released a month or so ago...and yes, Matthew does make some guest appearances...which can be checked out on Youtube (performances of The Heretic and My Horse Must Lose from the actual DVD) - so if you can't be bothered buying the DVD, you can see Matthew's songs on here... ...and i can't wait to hear the re-mix of 'The Heretic', after Dustin's rave review - should hopefully be good!!!

Ive gotta say that Matthew's songs are certainly the highlights of the album...except for maybe 'Horses in the Sky' - they also sound really good live, which i didnt think they would...considering the amount of effects used on the album...but it just goes to show you that you can be suprised by things!!!

Does anyone know if Matthew sings on anything on the Tiger & The Duke CD reissue other than the remix of "The Heretic" that Dustin mentioned?
Will this reissue be available on iTunes or just via a physical CD?

i'm not completely 100% positive, but i think the rest is older stuff without matthew. i have no idea about the release formats, but TSOAF is generally pretty tech savvy and i think it would be out of character for them to not release it online somewhere.

PS just want to re-iterate my enthusiasm for the remix of said heretic.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for the reissue later this month, if for no other reason that I must have this much-hyped "Heretic" remix!
