Tomahawk - Anonymous The four Magazine remasters - Real Life / Secondhand Daylight / The Correct Use of Soap / Magic, Murder and the Weather I'm mostly listening to Magic, Murder and the Weather as I tended to ignore it in the past due to the fact that John McGeoch had left the band by then. Wow. I'm feeling really uncool or something because I don't know any of these. DC - Can you give us a little summary of what kind of music this is? s'il vous plait. I like the way allmusic.com describes them so I’ll just steal that: “One of the first post-punk bands, Magazine kept the edgy, nervous energy of punk, adding elements of art rock, particularly with their theatrical live shows and shards of keyboards. Devoto's lyrics were combinations of social commentary and poetic fragments, while the band alternated between cold, jagged chords and gloomy, atmospheric sonic landscapes.” Tomahawk is a hard rock/alternative/metal/experimental band fronted by Mike Patton. With this latest release they’ve mixed their sound with Native American music. It’s definitely a lot different from their first two albums as the whole album is focused on Native American culture.

Y'know, the more I listen to CocoRosie's Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn, the more I love it.

This may expose me as a music pirate of sorts, but I snagged advance copies of the new Bruce Springsteen record as well as the new one from Band of Horses. Both are phenomenal and haven't left their place in the CD changer since. Will be picking up the official versions upon their release...

Beirut album isn't technically out yet, but I am going to see them in october when they come through town and pick up the album at the show. I always like to support the musicians I listen to, so even if I do "sample" their work via shady means, I always end up purchasing the album.

M.I.A. - Kala Blur - Parklife Gorillaz - Demon Days (I saw a little bit of an interview with Damon Albarn which resparked my interest in past albums, couldn't find my copy of 13 though. ) I'm also spinning a mix cd of dance music and remixes a friend gave me recently.

well, I've just been putting my ipod on shuffle the past two days. So it's been like listening to my favorite radio station sans commercials.

well, I've just been putting my ipod on shuffle the past two days. So it's been like listening to my favorite radio station sans commercials. i've only got an i-pod shuffle...so i have that all the time...although it has such a low memory that the amount of shuffling isn't brilliant...considering it is practically full of autumns' songs... anywho...this week i've mostly been listening to... Radiohead - OK Computer and Kid A...im beginning to get hyped about their new album and it ain't even gonna be out till next March...i tend to do this way too often it seems... Autumns - promo... The Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters...like a Scottish Radiohead...or a punk Belle and Sebastian...whichever one you like... ...im planning on splashing out on new albums tomorrow...which will probably change my rotations completely...but we shall see!!!

I just watched this film called Gadjo Dilo which has a very sexy song entitled dan daro. So I've been listening to that on repeat, as well as a fun little tune from the Balkan Beatbox. Well, that and National Public Radio. When your surrounded by flames you tend to pay more attention to the news than one would normally.

if you haven't heard the new hrsta lp yet, get it! others not in order of preference. the film school lp is great too, possibly their best release yet-- for some inexplicable reason. and... a not-exactly-new cd, but one i discovered recently: "in distance" by bitcrush (mike cadoo from gridlock).

Beirut - The Flying Club Cup (yes... still!) Jacques Brel - Live recordings from 1961 Radiohead - In Rainbows PJ Harvey - White Chalk
... As excited as I was about the Radiohead album, I have to say that I am more impressed with miss Polly Jean's latest release. It has the moodiness and melancholy of Is This Desire? with the honesty and bareness of Dancehall at Louse Point. Her gritty gutteral moans are absent leaving much high pleading and mournful howls. Her diversity is astounding. The entire album is nothing short of breathtaking... and I highly recommend it (naturally).

Radiohead - In Rainbows (their most filler-free record in 10 years, IMHO) The Killers - Sawdust (though I always skip their god-awful "interpretation" of Joy Division's "Shadowplay") The Kissaway Trail - s/t (got into these guys solely based on the Autumns connection, and I'm really digging this record) Kent - Tillbaka till samtiden (another great release from the best band in Sweden... ever) The Autumns - FNFABOT Cheers, edge
