What newly released or not-yet-released albums are on the top of your list? These are my current favorites.. CocoRosie - Noah's Ark Deerhoof - The Runners Four

Yeah, the new Magnet has promise. When I emailed a month or so ago with one of the Filter Records peeps, they said it would be early '06 for it...not too much longer.
The Engineers record is quite good...its finally out in the States. Explosions In The Sky just re-released their first disc...very nice. New Rob Dickinson (former Catherine Wheel lead singer) is decent. Depeche's new one is 75% good. And the latest Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is outstanding.

... haven't picked up DM's latest one yet. Though I do like the track "Precious" quite a bit.. I agree that BRMC's new album is quite good ( though a bit more mellow than the first two ) .... it definitely grows on you with more listens.

the live version of BRMC is unbeliveable. If you have a chance to catch it, I highly recommend you do. The new material translates quite well...I was simply blown away. Not quite our beloved Autumns, but its not really the same type of music either.

I missed out on the first box-set so I was so glad to hear they were re-releasing it. .... This and the new Magnet album should hold me over till' The Autumns new stuff comes out.

I just picked up the remastered version of CT's Treasure yesterday. Amazing stuff...not sure why I hadn't gotten it before the remaster was released. You would happen to know what CT albums were re-released as remasters? I know most of the fist few were, but was curious to have a list. This was my first remaster to get...sounds decent...a little louder than the original CD releases I think.

... I'm pretty sure all of the 4AD stuff has been remastered. Garlands, Victorialand, Head Over Heels, Treasure, Blue Bell Knoll, and Heaven Or Las Vegas

For those interested, Morrissey has a new album on its way out. You can listen to a track from the upcoming "Ringleader of the Tormentors" album here. edit: This probably should have been its own topic as it is not technically available yet, but I figured this was as good a place as any.

/// ...or not-yet-released albums... ///Sadly, very few of any recent releases seem to be 5/5. Hearing Morrissey's name should per se trigger some excitement, but he has been a disappointment over the last few years (gone soft). Still, the new album is worth waiting for, at least a little bit. I feel an urge to mention other albums as well, which will definitely not live up to their expectations. "Everything All the Time" ( Band of Horses) is one of those albums: I'm sure it will be good. Just not Carissa's Wierd. Film School's eponymous LP is promising, probably one of the best releases from BBQ recently. Clever usage of "promising", but 3/5. MOGWAI. ! (Alas, yet again those reviews have intimidated me a bit. But then they gave "Happy Songs for Happy People" 7.1, and it was great.) Always worth waiting for. Eh. And Radiohead. Who knows what they'll manage to produce. "The Life Pursuit" is not my cup of tea, as wasn't their previous one. But maybe I'm being too harsh and "I don't know Tom Jenkinson". Or whatever. Clogs' "Lantern" = high expectations. And My Latest Novel's "Wolves".

I feel the same, sadly. But as he's a precious icon from my youth, it is difficult for me not to feel at least slightly giddy when he has a new album coming out. All the reviews seem a little taken aback by changes in the musical style. When I read reviews that talk about the changes and the idea that they're not so sure it works, I like to hear it for myself. Sometimes change is good. In fact, a lot of times it is, it keeps artists from becoming stagnant. I'm looking forward to hearing it. (read: "I'll be the judge of that!") Only they know... maybe. I don't think that you are being harsh at all. It's a good album, but nothing on it really spoke to me personally either. I guess they're taking a musical journey that some of us don't want to travel. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it just means that change has occurred.

I guess first proper signs of Belle and Sebastian becoming a 'music' band rather than a 'lyrics' band for me were on "Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant". Actually this reply is purely to add what I forgot to say in the last post: Pia Fraus' "Nature Heart Software" came out at the end of February. So far I've not had a chance to listen to it, though. The "Chromatic Nights" EP, which features two songs from the album, was relatively good (a few extra gems there as well). Hopefully they'll have something beautiful in the vein of "400&57" on the CD. Edit: I'm biting my fingernails and wishing so much The Cooper Temple Clause will finish work on their new album soon.

just picked up both of The Daysleepers e.p.'s: The Soft Attack and Hide Your Eyes. Both are classic shoegaze bizzness. Very close, sound-wise, to the Angel Pool LP. LOTS of reverbed-out vocals and shimmering/swirling guitar parts. Good stuff!! www.thedaysleepers.com

ok, new hopes&dreams for all.
the new destroyalldreamers 12" which came out march 1st on claire's echo. waiting for it to arrive from tonevendor. bright eyes. "cassadaga" i liked most of the songs on the four winds ep, especially tourist trap. so i'm waiting for that too. with the bonus 7". autumns! eagerly. + the twilight sad, whose ep i've heard and whose lp i'm waiting for now.
as for new records that i've actually heard, foley room by amon tobin was nice; a cd by anilore (from 2006, so not that new); i know brett's album isn't out yet, but after waiting so long for 'love is dead' to get a proper release, i think the single alone is worth mentioning.
