so, i just recently got into this band a few months ago and i get the feeling that i am too late. i noticed that there isn't any news being updated on the front page and most threads on here are 2+ years old.
so does anyone know if these guys are going to make a new album? or tour or anything like that?
i just wish i would have found out about this band sooner. i had a hard time buying all of their albums because most of them have been discontinued, i mean some of them are online to download but they were ripped at a very poor quality so i got them off amazon for pretty cheap.

As a long-time follower of the Autumns, I suppose I'm used to these types of "absences" and periods of inactivity/lack of news. I became a fan just before "Russet Gold" came out, saw them live, and then... nothing. For nearly 4 years. I honestly thought they'd called it a day. It wouldn't have shocked me - tons of indie bands (good and bad) go unnoticed and decide to give up the dream.
Then the self-titled record dropped in '04 after the band strung together enough studio time (subsidized in part by a benefit show) to create another masterpiece. After brief tours of the UK and the US, again... nothing. For another 3 or so years.
My only disappointment with this latest lull is that I couldn't see them live in support of "Fake Noise...". They played more overseas than Stateside, and I wasn't able to make the road trip during the workweek to catch them here in Northern CA. I hope that it's not "The End" for them but I do know that each band member is ridiculously talented beyond simply music-related ventures, and involved in other pursuits (e.g., photography, film, art, education, etc.). I'm sure they're keeping busy, even if it's not in any band-related capacity.
Hopefully we'll see them surface again in the future, with another record and/or a tour. Either would be mind-blowing as usual, I'm sure.
Cheers,
edge

They have all been very busy with other endeavors. Matthew has been simultaneously working on his Thesis and collaborating with musicians on yet to be released musical magic. Frank has been focused on his education and family. Madison creating new and experimental music while finishing up his education. Steve is in the home stretch of his documentary film "The Reach of Resonance" and has been seen playing drums with Cue the Moon. Dustin has been composing music of all sorts and has been recording and gigging with various and varied musical groups. Most notably with the up and coming French artist, SoKo. There is no end to their creative output.

Thanks for the update mimsy. I hope you're doing well too! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the boys will re-convene at some point in the future for some more Autumns goodness... and maybe a proper Bay Area show (or two) on the tour itinerary! Cheers, edge

I just commented on the other thread hoping that this band will give us updates about their recent activities. Unfortunately, they are no longer active and will leave more fans wanting more from them as time goes by. I hope they will release a compiled album of their great hits.

Hello. I got to hear one of their songs and now I am hooked. Searched and searched for news about them but as one member here said....it is DEAD AIR so far.... I do hope that they will eventually get back together and make some more music.
Cheers!

The reason they are not so much in the limelight is may be because they are not releasing popular songs. Their old hits are also losing popularity with the new generation preferring rising stars.

I had a brief conversation with Matt after The Sound of Animals Fighting played in Boston, which I must mention was amazing.
I asked if there were any Autumns related plans in the future and he mentioned that they are done with that part of their lives but remain friends. He also mentioned that him and Frank may have some sort of work together. I didn't get any information on Minus Music unfortunately as there was a long line waiting for autographs.
It was such a pleasure meeting him after listing to The Sound of Animals Fighting and discovering The Autumns nearly ten years ago. Since then, I've fallen in love with everything from Angel Pool to Fake Noise.
