Hello! I was just wondering if anyone can lead me in the right direction to getting the Winter in a Silver Box EP. I have searched and searched and just haven't been able to find it anywhere. Even in mp3 form would be great! Let me know! Thanks

Oh boy, that one has been hard to find for a while. Last person I know to acquire it got it used in a little recordshop in Denton, TX... I know that doesn't help... but it is a rare item. Good luck on the hunt!

haha oh dear. I don't think the fact that I live in Australia would really help either. Oh well. I'lll keep my eyes open and maybe I might run across it.

with my autumns-interest resurgence of the past few weeks i went a-lookin' for this here winter in a silver box and found (1) copy at secondspin.com for *gasp* $6.99 (+ shipping + tax for a total of about $8.49) so i ordered it up! i've only heard the little 30 second bits at those lastfm type sites so i'm excited to finally hear this old stuff ..

or .. not : ' (
it supposedly shipped yesterday then i got an email today saying my order was refunded.
i called up customer service and they said it was a last minute quality control issue .. that either the item was defective or a wrong title or something else ~
i knew it was too good to be true! (my search continues ..)

Heh...when I first read that you had found a copy I was *mildly* jealous - I remember searching for a copy for about 2 years without any luck at all!! It is just too rare...I think we should push for a re-release...bit unlikely though.

yeah a re-release would be nice .. or even if it was available on itunes or something. i found some site that let you play a 30 second clip of each tune and i gotta say i must hear the remix of 'pale trembles a gale'. it sounds almost acapella (vocals) with some spacey drones behind it and i wonder if the whole thing is like that.
i think the autumns said a while back they got control of some of their back catalogue but don't know if wintery silvery boxy was included in that. slog records put out the disc originally so maybe they 'own' it but who knows.
another brief story about trying to find a copy of this: the day after being dissed by second spin i found about 5 copies available on half(dot)com. one was for $6.99 and all the others were $30-$40 so i ordered up the cheap one and received a cd about 4 days later. except it wasn't 'winter in a silver box' but some compilation of los angeles punk bands from the early 80's. what the F?!? i sent an email to the seller asking what happened and never heard back so i filed a claim with half(dot)com to refund the order. : ' (
i don't trust anyone that claims to be selling 'winter in a silver box' now. scammers every last one of them! (or maybe i'm too cheap to pay the cost of what it's really worth ..)

yay! my claim was approved and half(dot)com is refunding my purchase from that dude that sent me the wrong cd and i noticed on the autumns facebook page that you can stream a bunch of their tunes one of which is pale trembles a gale (remix) from the silvery box containing winter (scroll down, on the left) www.facebook.com/pages/The-Autumns/7774849770
