Whilst i was writing about the new White Stripes album (see post!!), i thought about other new music heading our way this year (hopefully!!)...and thought it is now a good time to start building the Radiohead hype...yes the new album should be out in the Autumn...according to media sources at least!!!
And on the website...there are some short clippings of songs that have been taken out in the edit...and even they sound good...i really can't wait...really, really can't...been waiting for this for so long....and it's gonna sound so good.......

I'm also quite curious to hear how the studio versions of the new songs turn out. I guess the anticipation level for me is less than expected because we've already heard most (if not all) of the tracks during various live shows, but hell, it's still Radiohead, so I can't help but be excited!

I'm too poor to go to Radiohead concerts and/or they sell out too quickly.

something about seeing a band like Radiohead in a setting larger than 500 people doesn't quite do it for me as much as it did 5 or so years ago. the seasons change and so do i.

but let me also say if I was offered tickets to see them, I doubt I would turn them down.

...to be honest...ive hardly heard any of the new songs - i dont want to listen to the rubbishy recordings of the live versions, as i think it will spoil hearing the album for the first time...and i really can't wait to hear the album - i love how radiohead always seem to come up with something refreshing on their albums...
...and as for actually seeing them live, im in the same boat as mimsy - way too poor / they always sell out so fast...such a disappointment...just hope i can see them on tour next time......

Actually, I'm one of those who has to be content with the "rubbishly recorded" live versions of the new songs because I'm in the same boat as you (i.e., no money/ bad timing)!

incidentally i'm just listening to bends now, so i thought i'd contribute a little aside from reading mimsy's clumsy apologies on the other thread. plus this contains some references which can be transferred over there as well. depending on the time of year, either kid a or amnesiac are the best work they've done within their own discography. (especially regarding thom's vocal style.) i think it was wishstars who said somewhere that bends is their favourite radiohead record, so maybe there's a chance you haven't seen this film called plastic tree. it sums a lot of the album up real good. so yeah. -f

mmmmmm....the bends...what a great album - yes, it was me who said it was my fave album by the radiohead boys...although i do really like Kid A and OK Computer - i just think Kid A's a bit more hit and miss, and OK Computer isn't as catchy...so the Bends does it for me... ...although i do really like all the radiohead albums...aswell as i might be wrong - the live album - true love waits...what an amazing song.... ...and i aint seen that film...sounds intriguing...and slightly saucy (!)

Bold and courageous move on their part - I only hope that they're able to generate enough $ from the "name your own price" download version of the new record to fund their future endeavors (oh wait... they don't have to worry if folks are shelling out ~$80 for the boxset!). Frankly that's a little steep for the boxset, in my opinion.
Anyway, good news all around though - hopefully it's another quality album from them!
Cheers,
edge

...if you think about it though...the cost of manufacturing, postage, and the whole recording costs that the band will have run-up over the past 4 years will come to a large amount...so £40 for two cds, a vinyl version of the album plus random extras is actually quite a good buy...especially as they aren't adding any other extra costs that all other websites do...like the cost of postage and packaging!!!
...and nobody is forcing anybody to buy the £40 boxset - you can buy the album for free...or just wait till it gets an 'official' release next year!!!
...all i know is, is that it's quite an admirable and out-there move by the band...and im looking forward to getting my download next week!!! ;D
