New album out in the U.S.

TODAY!

After touring the record with label-mates The Dears, the band was eager to return to the writing process and intent on departing from the languorous quality of its earlier material in favour of a sharper and more immediate sound. It is not surprising that The Autumns' forthcoming album - Fake Noise From a Box of Toys - is a radical departure from their earlier work. The songs slice and dice with a frenzied precision, their pummelling pace interrupted only sparingly by the more serene fare of Autumns previous sound. And yet the latter emerge all the more lovely from the record's generally rough relief...

"an A&R man's indie rock wet dream, replete with a lavish phalanx of guitars and singer Matt Kelly's acrobatic falsetto pitched equidistantly between Jeff Buckley and Muse's Matt Bellamy. Impressive stuff."
Q - 4 Stars ****

"Mixing slivery guitar patterns with raging feedback and FX pedals, The Autumns successfully harness shoegazing's euphoric tendencies with Snowpatrol / Keane anthemics. Soaring drama rock."
Uncut - 4 Stars ****

"This album has such majestic chutzpah that the epic gene in you will simply surrender"
The Times - 4 Stars ****

Looks like I didn't look hard enough...thanks Mimsy for the post about it. can't wait to get my copy...though I do already have one from the SXSW show. I like to support my local record shop and have already told them to order for me. i'll spread the love by sending it to a friend, or something like that.

Just out of interest, is the album the same as the European release, i.e. artwork, etc? I'm assuming that the only difference will be the distributor (World's Fair instead of Bella Union), but thought i would double check, seeing as the self-titled had different artwork...

That's awesome. I don't think we even have a record store in my town. We used to... but they've gone the way of the Dodo. I have to travel "into town" to hit up record shops.

I haven't actually physically seen the UK version, but I am pretty sure they are identical. If anyone has seen both or would like to compare please chime in. :)

I was truly hoping to get the rush that only comes from walking into the record shop and picking up my copy of Fake Noise this week, but to no avail. I had to settle for the very 21st century method of online ordering. My copy should arrive this week... can't wait!

Also pre-ordered the Pyramids CD - it sounds intriguing.

Cheers,

edge

I only have the UK version... hoping it's the same as the US version because I can't afford to buy it again.
