As a long-time follower of the Autumns, I suppose I'm used to these types of "absences" and periods of inactivity/news. I became a fan just before "Russet Gold" came out, saw them live, and then... nothing. For nearly 4 years. I honestly thought they'd called it a day. It wouldn't have shocked me - tons of indie bands (good and bad) go unnoticed and decide to give up the dream.

Then the self-titled record dropped in '04 after the band strung together enough studio time (subsidized in part by a benefit show) to create another masterpiece. After brief tours of the UK and the US, again... nothing. For another 3 or so years.

My only disappointment with this latest lull is that I couldn't see them live in support of "Fake Noise...". They played more overseas than Stateside, and I wasn't able to make the road trip during the workweek to catch them here in Northern CA. I hope that it's not "The End" for them but I do know that each band member is ridiculously talented beyond simply music-related ventures, and involved in other pursuits (e.g., photography, film, art, education, etc.). I'm sure they're keeping busy, even if it's not in any band-related capacity.

Hopefully we'll see them surface again in the future, with another record and/or a tour. Either would be mind-blowing as usual, I'm sure.

Cheers,

edge

Count me in the "surprised" camp re this news. Personally speaking, I couldn't really get into the Pyramids record. I will hold onto the CD forever, though, because 1) I'm a completist re anything involving Autumns' members, and 2) the artwork is outstanding.

 Does this band still exist?
« Result #3 on Oct 23, 2009, 2:53pm »

so, i just recently got into this band a few months ago and i get the feeling that i am too late. i noticed that there isn't any news being updated on the front page and most threads on here are 2+ years old.

so does anyone know if these guys are going to make a new album? or tour or anything like that?

i just wish i would have found out about this band sooner. i had a hard time buying all of their albums because most of them have been discontinued, i mean some of them are online to download but they were ripped at a very poor quality so i got them off amazon for pretty cheap.

you can find the tab right here! i always loved this cover and sort of figured it out previously but now you forced me to really get it right (or at least really close).

i leave my ring finger on the 4th string for the entire tune - it helps me hit the right chord form when moving around. also on the 'together, forever' part i play the 1st string hammer on (5h6p5) with the middle finger and right after the pull-off the middle finger frets the 2nd string at the 6th fret .. this might make sense as you try to play it. it takes a little while to get used to but isn't too hard.

i didn't tab frankie's slide part or the bass but you can figure it out if you want ..

enjoy!

pssst! I had dinner with the fellas a few weeks back... All is well and each member seems to be quite busy with their various life pursuits. :)

The big news right now is Mr. Elkins. He is so close to completing his film. This has been a labor of love. And several years in the making.

Good luck Steve! I can't wait to see the film!
